Why heritage seed?
Heritage seed belongs to everyone. Once you have your seed, with care, you can have a life-long supply of food.
Without seed, there is no food. If big companies control all of our seeds through patented hybrids and gene technology, then they control all of our food. This means that they can decide what sort of food we eat and then charge whatever they like for it.
This is why we use heritage seed, save our seed, and encourage others to do the same.

Growing Requirements for Heritage Seed.
Free draining soil with plenty of organic matter worked into it. We hear it all the time. So don't plant your seeds in a puddle and be generous with the compost.
I find it easier, most of the time, to plant my seeds in pots. I can keep an eye on the moisture level, control how much sunshine they get exposed to, and keep them out of reach of creepy crawlies. And birds. And pets. And people.
